The lemonade diet (master cleanse) can be a dramatic turning point in your journey to weight loss and better health.
The key is to follow the original plan outlined by Stanley Burroughs and not someone's improvement.
Plan for 10 days up to 40. You will know your cleanse is complete when your tongue becomes completely pink, no longer coated from cleansing.
Before you begin, learn what to expect and gather supplies. Also find yourself a cleanse buddy online or in person. The encouragement can really help!
Drink the lemonade diet recipe (below) whenever you are hungry. Six glasses per day is enough for optimal weight loss, but drink more if you are hungry.
By eating less, you allow your body to focus on eliminating waste from cells throughout your body, which includes mucoid plaque from the colon. This is a very good thing, but you will need to nudge your gut along since food is usually what stimulates a bowel movement. Provide that digestive cue every night with a laxative tea such as senna.
The salt water flush also helps eliminate waste. Every morning, grab your salt water and go at it. If you absolutely can't do the flush for whatever reason, drink laxative tea instead. But the salt water flush is the preferred method.
Feel free to enjoy a glass of mint tea from time to time during the cleanse. The chlorophyll helps with mouth and body odors that can occur while cleansing. Best of all, it's not lemon! (You'll know what I mean.)
Be careful to break the cleanse slowly to adapt to solid food again. Everyone has a different pace, but going too fast can cause a lot of GI upset.
One method is orange juice the first two days then on the third day orange juice for breakfast, fruit for lunch, and fruit or vegetable salad for dinner. Return to normal eating day 4.
The lemonade provides all the vitamins and minerals you need during your cleanse if you squeeze the lemons yourself (preferably organic) and use grade B maple syrup (not the grocery store variety).
You can use less maple syrup for more weight loss, but do not adjust the amount of lemon juice. The cayenne helps break up mucus and must be included.
